The day’s poets on the 13th include:
2:00 Cristiane Flores Garcia
2:30 Timothy Otte
3:00 Naomi Cohn
With all the arts festivities, the turtles may be hiding in the pond, but the Tower and House will be open for tours.
Naomi, I’m enchanted to find your blog, and the writings and events related to memory and poetry, especially memorizing poetry. On long trips across South Dakota with my high school English teacher, to distant declamation and debate contests, she helped me memorize many poems, some ballads with thumping rhythm and regular rhyme (“The Highwayman”) and some airy and memorable due primarily to a central image or idea, such as “I burn my candle at both ends…” but now I think of it, that, too, rhymes. Ahh, my friend, congratulations and thanks.
Margaret…I’m enchanted you found it…I love how those poems we memoirzed long ago can still unfrul for for us at a moment’s notice
